It might become more obvious as I continue to share these recipes with you, but I have a hard time following recipes exactly as printed. I find a recipe I want to make and I get all sorts of ideas in my head on how I can tweak it! For example with this recipe I wanted to make it more hearty to appease my husband, so I added in a cup of uncooked green lentils. I also wanted to appeal to my daughter more so I used alphabet letter pasta instead of orzo. I’m lucky to have a child that eats any vegetables I give her, but it never hurts to make food fun! The details of how this recipe was adapted can be found in my post over on Gardening With Children.

Before I leave you, I wanted to share one other helpful tool. It’s a visual guide to creating your own soups this fall. I find soups to be one of the easiest ways to use up vegetables or to sneak more in when the family isn’t getting enough. This guide will help you make your soups into healthy balanced meals!
