QuiBidder of the Week – Catherine A.

Posted by Blake Brown under Testimonials

She’s done it again! You may remember when Catherine A. first became QuiBidder of the Week way back in April, and again in July, and once more in September. Now she’s QuiBidder of the Week for the week of December 3, 2012! How can the same person become QoW multiple times? Well, since every day brings new QuiBids experiences, your QuiBids story is always evolving. This is why we encourage multiple entries, even if you’ve already won before.

And in the spirit of the season, Catherine shared her creativity by writing a little Christmas jingle about QuiBids. It goes a little something like this! (Feel free to sing along!)

Deck the halls with lots of winnings!
Fa la la la la la la la la!
T’is the season for free shipping!
Fa la la la la la la la la!
Win Free Bids and then some Gameplays!
Fa la la, Fa la la, Fa la la!
Deck the halls with lots of winnings!
Fa la la la la la la la la!

How long have you been bidding on QuiBids?

“I have been a QuiBidder for two years now. I watched an advertisement on TV while I was getting ready for work one day. I was skeptical at first, but then again, if it were true, it would be wonderful. I decided to give it a try, and won several small voucher auctions and then a few gift cards in quick succession — all for pennies each! I was hooked! I have since won over 200 items, each for a fraction of their retail value!”

Tell us about your best QuiBids win.

“Now that’s a tough choice! Was it the Bistro Set for $0.11? The $150 handbag for $0.54? Maybe it was the $200 Diego Rivera Framed Prints for $0.12 or the $200 Dulcimer for $0.19! They were all amazing, but I would have to say that the $400 Bose Sound that I won for $0.19 had me doing a happy dance for the longest time!”

Have you ever given your QuiBids win as a gift for someone else?

“I’ve given many of my wins to friends and family. The Juicer went to cousin Richie, the Deep Fryer to cousin Marie, the Garmin GPS to cousin Cathy, the Dulcimer and Yamaha Keyboard went to my music teacher colleague to be used by hundreds of students who will learn from them for years to come! Cousin Guy got the golf shirts and golf balls, my friend Diane was thrilled with the slow cooker, and the restaurant gift cards have provided many family and friend nights out in an economic climate that threatened to put an end to such get-togethers.”

Do you use Buy Now?

“I use Real Bids —and Buy Now— when I am bidding on vouchers or when I am bidding on an item that I really need and would have to buy anyway. In this way, even if I lose, I can buy the vouchers, which I can always use, or the item, which I would have to have bought anyway.

I use Voucher Bids to bid on items that I don’t really need, but would love to have, like the Bose Sound Dock. I could not have afforded to buy it outright, so vouchers were the way to go and I saved my real bids, and Buy Now, for other opportunities.”

What’s the most Voucher Bids you’ve ever won from a QuiBids Gameplay?

“OK, you won’t believe this but I once won 319 bids on the Deal Wheel! This was way back when the games were first introduced, and I thought at the time that there must have been some mistake. I let the bids lie there in my account for a little bit, waiting for an email explaining that an error had been made and I had to give them back. The email never came, and when I finished my happy dance, I went off to bid like a drunken sailor for a couple of days!”

What advice would you like to give to a new QuiBidder just starting out?

“1. Read Q101: You will learn how the site works and will earn Free Bids too!

2. Take advantage of the Beginner Auctions: They are limited to fewer bidders and are designed to give you a chance to get your ‘bidding legs’!

3. Yes of course you want that iPad and the super-size HDTV, but be patient! Start small and work your way up. In the meantime, put some of your favorite high-end items on your Watchlist and just WATCH! Get to know who the major players are, and when the best days and times to bid on those are might be. With a few wins under your belt and growing confidence, you will be ready to go for those “dream items”!

4. Consider how much you can reasonably afford to spend in a month or a week, set yourself a budget, and stick to it! There is no rush! If you don’t win it this week, you can try for it next week!

Patience, planning and budgeting will pay off big — no kidding!”
